Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Our commitment
Safe Shepherd exists to protect your privacy. That mission shapes every decision we make about data. We collect the minimum information necessary to find and remove your exposed personal data from broker sites, and we never sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, password (hashed, never stored in plain text), and optional profile details you choose to provide (name, city, state).
Profile information for scanning. To scan data broker sites on your behalf, we need identifying details such as your name and location. This information is used exclusively to search for and remove your data from broker sites.
Payment information. Billing is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number. Stripe provides us with a customer ID and subscription status.
Usage data. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. This includes pages visited, time on site, and referral source. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
Scan data broker sites for your exposed personal data. Submit opt-out and removal requests on your behalf. Verify that removals were successful. Monitor for re-appearances of your data. Send you scan results, removal confirmations, and re-appearance alerts. Process your subscription payments. Improve our service and fix technical issues.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to protecting your privacy.
Information sharing
Data brokers. When submitting opt-out requests, we share the minimum information required by each broker to identify and remove your records. This is the core function of our service and is done exclusively at your direction.
Service providers. We use: Firebase (authentication and database), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), and Google Analytics (website analytics). Each provider processes data under their own privacy policies and our data processing agreements.
We never sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers, advertisers, or any third party for their own purposes.
Cookies
We use cookies for: authentication (keeping you logged in), analytics (Google Analytics), and essential site functionality. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels from ad networks.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Scan results and removal records are retained to provide ongoing monitoring and historical reporting. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your rights
Access and portability. You can view all data we hold about you from your dashboard at any time.
Deletion. You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time. Contact support@safeshepherd.com or use the account deletion option in your dashboard settings.
California residents (CCPA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, email privacy@safeshepherd.com.
European residents (GDPR). If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights including data portability, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is contract performance (providing the service you signed up for) and legitimate interest (improving our service).
Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. Your data is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase) infrastructure with SOC 2 compliance. We do not store payment card data — all payment processing is handled by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 certified).
Children
Safe Shepherd is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active account holders. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
