Why we built Safe Shepherd

In 2011, our founders discovered just how much personal information was freely available on data broker websites — home addresses, phone numbers, relatives, income estimates — all accessible to anyone who knew where to look.

The opt-out process existed, but it was deliberately obscure. Each site had a different process, buried in fine print. Doing it manually for 100+ sites would take days of work, and the data would reappear within months.
